Second Convening of the BBSEA Regional Steering Committee
The Regional Steering Committee (RSC) for the Blueing the Black Sea (BBSEA) project held its second meeting online on October 2, 2025, to review project progress and agree on key next steps for country-level coordination.
The committee formally endorsed the approach for Component 1 of the project, which aims to support the alignment of national environmental policies with international standards. This endorsement allows the project to move forward with contracting a specialized consultancy to begin (as early as January 2026) this critical analytical work.
Guided by expert recommendations from the project's new Advisory Committee, the members also reaffirmed their strong support for the recently launched Eco-Innovation Challenge (EIC) and committed to helping promote the EIC among innovators in their respective countries.
The meeting concluded with the Regional Steering Committee expressing strong support for the project’s progress and reaffirming a collective commitment to regional cooperation, innovation, and alignment with international standards to address the Black Sea’s complex environmental challenges.
