BBSEA Senior Programme Manager Concludes Strategic Mission to Kyiv and Chisinau

The BBSEA Senior Programme Manager, Glenn Pearce-Oroz, has completed a highly productive mission to Kyiv and Chisinau from 21-28 February 2026. The objective was to provide an overview of project milestones to ministries and partners and align on upcoming activities such as the technical assistance that BBSEA will provide on alignment with EU Directives.

Kyiv Highlights 

In Kyiv, discussions regarding upcoming technical assistance took place with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, including the Deputy Minister of the ministry and her technical team. To strengthen strategic partnerships, further engagements were held with the World Bank Country Office, the Research Service of the Ukrainian Parliament, and the local contractor, Civitta. Additionally, internal coordination sessions with UNOPS colleagues successfully mapped out the BBSEA workplan for the coming months.

Chisinau Highlights 

In Moldova, meetings were held with the Ministry of Environment to provide an update of the project and plans for the Shark Tank Event, as well as discussions with the Ministry of Infrastructure to discuss alignment with the EU Wastewater Treatment Directive. To identify catalytic funding opportunities, consultations were held with the World Bank Office and the IFC. Connections were also established with key EU project partners - EU4Innovation East and EU4Green Recovery East - to build synergies within the start-up ecosystem and wastewater sectors. Finally, groundwork for the upcoming Shark Tank event was laid through venue scouting and meetings with potential moderators.
