BBSEA Eco-Innovation Challenge Documentary Featured at IW Film Festival in Bali
The Blueing the Black Sea (BBSEA) Project proudly participated in the IW Film Festival at the 11th GEF International Waters Conference (IWC11) in Bali, Indonesia, sharing the inspiring journey of its Eco-Innovation Challenge with the broader international waters community.
Titled “From Ideas to Impact: Blueing the Black Sea's Eco-Innovation Challenge Journey,” the documentary highlights how innovation, collaboration and shared environmental responsibility can help address marine pollution in the Black Sea region.
The film follows the Eco-Innovation Challenge from its early stages through the Bootcamp in Istanbul and the final Shark Tank event in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. Attracting 186 applications from 40 countries, the challenge brought together innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs and environmental changemakers developing solutions to some of the region's most pressing pollution challenges.
The selection of 15 winning innovations marked an important milestone in this ongoing journey, with solutions addressing challenges ranging from wastewater treatment and agricultural runoff to plastic and microplastic pollution, nature-based solutions and environmental monitoring.
The documentary's participation in the IW Film Festival provided a valuable opportunity to introduce these innovative approaches to a wider international audience and highlight the importance of supporting promising ideas on their path toward real-world implementation.
Behind every innovation is a commitment to making a difference. BBSEA extends its sincere appreciation to all the innovators, mentors, government representatives and project partners who contributed to the film and helped make this journey possible.
Through continued cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation, BBSEA remains committed to advancing practical solutions for a cleaner and healthier Black Sea.
